Dr. Wani Suhail Ahmad is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Ladakh, India. He earned his Ph.D. in Geography from Aligarh Muslim University, where his research focused on the environmental crisis of wetland ecosystems in the Kashmir Valley. His teaching and research interests encompass Remote Sensing, GIS, Google Earth Engine, Digital Image Processing, Spatial Analysis, Urban and Environmental Geography, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Management, and Land Use/Land Cover Dynamics. He has supervised several postgraduate dissertations in the fields of geospatial sciences and environmental studies. Dr. Ahmad has published extensively in reputed national and international journals and has contributed to the academic community as a reviewer for leading journals. He is the co-investigator of an ICSSR-funded research project on solar energy and sustainable development in Ladakh and is the editor of the Springer volume Climate Change Vulnerability and Adaptations. His academic excellence has been recognized through several prestigious honors, including the University Gold Medal, Young Researcher Award, Special Recognition Award, and the National Geospatial Emerging Faculty Fellow Award. Through his teaching, research, and scholarly contributions, he remains committed to advancing geospatial sciences and promoting sustainable development in fragile mountain environments.
