Dr. Jigmat Dachen (M.P.Ed, NET/JRF, Ph.D.) is currently working as Dean, Students Welfare, University of Ladakh since April, 2022. Dr. Jigmat did his schooling from Govt, Higher Secondary School, Leh and graduation from Govt, MAM College Jammu. He has completed his B.P.Ed & M.P.Ed degree from the RTM, University Nagpur. He is a recipient of the UGC JRF in the subject of Physical Education in the Year, 2008 & 2009 and has become first person from the erstwhile State of Jammu & Kashmir to qualify JRF in Physical Education.
He has completed Doctorate degree in Physical Education from Laskhmibai National Institute of Physical Education (Deemed University), Gwalior, India. His research interest is to understand the role of psychological factors on Sports performance and effect of sports participation on human personality.
He was first appointed as Assistant Professor of Physical Education in the University of Kashmir in 2012. After taking the charge of Dean, Students Welfare in April, 2022, he has started various students' welfare related initiatives like Students Induction programme, Inter-college Annual Road Race, Youth Festival and also started Gym facilities in both the campuses of the University of Ladakh.
