The department of commerce started its functioning in March 2020 with the introduction of Post -Graduation Programme in Commerce (M.Com.). The department offers CBCS course under semester system and uses rigorous pedagogy with an effective interface with the industry to translate the mission into action. It provides opportunities to students for enhancing their understanding of business, economic, social and political environment to broaden knowledge horizon not only to be knowledgeable, but mainly to become catalyst and to build managerial and entrepreneurial skills to conceptualize, decide and communicate. We understand that practical experience in the real work environment of the industry is an essential component of the contemporary knowledge system. Therefore, the department organize study tours to industrial units to enable students to relate their classroom learning with the reality of actual management of organization. In order to inculcate the culture of research, students in their fourth semester are required to prepare and submit dissertation in the department. Moreover, the performance of the student is persistently evaluated through class participation, home-assignments, internal tests, presentation and viva-voce. Our department is well equipped with state-of-the-art teaching learning facilities like, interactive panel board. For the harsh winter of Ladakh, our classrooms are well equipped with good heating arrangement.

The teaching faculty is always involved in the teaching, extension, and other academic as well as co-curricular activities and the outcome of it is that the department is working very smoothly with integration and discipline. The department not only encourages but actively involves in using innovative techniques. We leave no stone unturned to bring out full potentials of our students.

Best Practices

Students are required to carry out minor research projects from 1st semester to 3rd semester and in the 4th-semester students have to complete the master dissertation. Our classrooms are equipped with the latest state-of-the-art interactive panel board and good heating arrangement for the winter.
