Dr. Mohammad Akram is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Arabic at the Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh, where he has been serving since 2022. Since 2023, he has also been a Member of the Board of Studies (BoS) for both Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programmes, contributing to curriculum development, academic planning, and quality enhancement in higher education. Dr. Akram obtained his Master's degree in Arabic from the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh. He subsequently earned both his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Arabic from the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. His M.Phil. research focused on “Children's Literature in Algeria”, exploring its literary, educational, and cultural dimensions. His doctoral research examined Socio-Political Issues in the Algerian Short Story, offering a critical analysis of the relationship between literature, society, politics, and postcolonial discourse in modern Algerian Arabic fiction. An active scholar and dedicated academic, Dr. Akram has published more than fifteen research papers in reputed national and international peer-reviewed and UGC care listed journals. He has also presented over fifteen research papers at national and international conferences, seminars, workshops, and academic symposiums, where his work has contributed to scholarly discussions on Arabic literature, translation studies, comparative literature, and contemporary Arab intellectual thought. In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Akram has actively participated in numerous Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, orientation programs, refresher courses, and other professional development initiatives, demonstrating his commitment to academic excellence, innovative pedagogy, and lifelong learning. His areas of academic interest include Modern Arabic Literature, Algerian Literature, Children's Literature, Socio-Political Discourse in Arabic Fiction, Translation Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Comparative Literature, and Indo-Arab Cultural and Intellectual Relations. Through his research, teaching, publications, and academic service, Dr. Akram continues to contribute to the advancement of Arabic studies and the promotion of high-quality research and higher education in India.
