Academic Biography

Dr. Rachit Kumar Gupta, is an educator and researcher specializing in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, with a specific focus on deep learning-based medical image analysis. Over the course of a 9 year career in higher education and research, they have focused on bridging the gap between complex theoretical frameworks and practical, real-world outcomes. Core Focus: Cultivating critical inquiry in the classroom while driving empirical research that addresses contemporary challenges in Artificial Intelligence, Discrete Mathematics, statistical methods, etc. Academic Background Dr. Rachit Kumar Gupta earned their Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning from the University of Jammu, where their doctoral research investigated “Early Diagnosis of oral Malignancies using AI/ML Frameworks." They also hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science Applications from the University of Jammu and a Bachelor’s degree also from University of Jammu. Teaching & Research Experience Currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and IT at University of Ladakh, Dr. Rachit Kumar Gupta instructs both undergraduate and graduate courses on, Artificial Intelligence, Discrete Mathematics, Statistical Methods, Operating Systems, Python and Software Engineering. Their instruction emphasizes hands-on methodology, mentoring students through independent research design and data analysis. As a researcher, they serve as the Principal Investigator for ANPR in Ladakh region for tourism management funded by iHUB DivyaSampark, IIT Roorkee. Their current research agenda explores Optimization of Deep learning models. Areas of Expertise • Deep Learning: Specialization in deep learning frameworks, experimental designs, and optimization of such models. • Feature Engineering: Deep technical knowledge regarding traditional feature extraction techniques as well as advanced feature extraction and selection techniques. • Frameworks: Advanced proficiency in Python, MATLAB, statistical analysis tools. • Curriculum Development: Acting as a key member in the Board of Studies for designing curriculum for UG and PG programmes for the last 4 years. Notable Achievements Dr. Rachit Kumar Gupta has authored more than 5 peer-reviewed articles in top-tier journals, including Archives of Computational Methods in Engineering and Journal of Scientific Research, alongside a recent book chapter published by Springer Nature. Their research on “Cellular Level Based Deep Learning Framework for Early Detection of Dysplasia in Oral Squamous Epithelium” was recognized with the Young Researcher Award in 2020. Beyond their institutional duties, they serve as reviewers for the Asian Journal of Probability and Statistics and regularly consult for career development in public and private sectors.
