Dr. Waseem Raja Malik

Academic Biography

Dr. Waseem Raja Malik is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education at the University of Ladakh, India. He holds a Ph.D. in Physical Education from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, where his doctoral research focused on the assessment and comparison of skill-related fitness among college students in Jammu and Kashmir. He also earned an M.Phil. in Physical Education, an M.P.Ed., a B.P.Ed., and a Bachelor's degree in Science, providing him with a strong interdisciplinary academic foundation. Dr. Waseem Raja Malik has extensive teaching, research, and administrative experience in higher education. Before joining the University of Ladakh in July 2023, he served as Sports Director at Government Degree College Langate, Kupwara. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he serves as the Boys' Hostel Warden and is a Member of the Board of Studies, contributing to curriculum development, student welfare, and academic governance. He has also coordinated numerous faculty development programmes, workshops, seminars, and institutional events, demonstrating strong leadership and organizational skills. His research interests include Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Exercise Physiology, Sports Performance Enhancement, Sports Training and Conditioning, Skill-Related Fitness Assessment, Sports Psychology, Physical Fitness and Health Promotion, Research Methodology, Data Analytics in Sports Sciences, Yoga and Wellness, Sports Management, and Environmental Sustainability in Sports. His scholarly work has been published in reputed national and international journals, including Scopus-indexed and UGC-CARE-listed journals. He has presented research papers at numerous national and international conferences on topics related to physical fitness, sports psychology, exercise physiology, and health promotion. Dr. Waseem Raja Malik has actively contributed to sports development as a coach, official, and player. He served as Head Coach of the University of Ladakh Women's Kabaddi Team in the North Zone All India Inter-University Championship and has represented the university in various sporting events as an official. Earlier in his sporting career, he captained the Jammu & Kashmir Tennis Ball Cricket team at the national level. His commitment to academic excellence, research, student mentorship, and the promotion of sports and physical education continues to contribute significantly to higher education and the holistic development of students.
