Ms. Zerish Firdous
Assistant ProfessorAcademic Biography
I worked for two years as a Forensic Consultant and Trainer at the State Forensic Science Laboratory, Jammu and Kashmir. During this period, I was associated with the Chemistry, Toxicology, and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) divisions, where I handled forensic casework involving the scientific examination and analysis of evidence. I also participated in crime scene investigations, assisting in the collection, preservation, and documentation of physical evidence in accordance with standard forensic protocols. In addition to casework, I conducted training programs for assistant scientific police personnel on crime scene investigation, evidence collection and preservation, and the application of forensic science in criminal investigations. These responsibilities strengthened my practical expertise as well as my ability to effectively communicate forensic concepts to law enforcement professionals. For the past one year, I have been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Forensic Science at the University of Ladakh. In this role, I am engaged in teaching postgraduate students, mentoring them academically, and contributing to the department's academic activities. My areas of expertise include forensic chemistry, Forensic Physics, crime scene investigation, evidence handling and preservation, and forensic documentation. My academic background, professional experience in a state forensic laboratory, and current teaching role have enabled me to develop a balanced perspective that integrates forensic practice with education. I remain committed to advancing forensic science through quality teaching, professional training, and continuous learning.
