About the Department
The Department of International Conflict Studies at Leh Campus, University of Ladakh, is dedicated to advancing excellence in teaching, research, and policy engagement in the study of conflict, peace, and global security. Located in the strategically significant Himalayan region, the department offers a unique academic perspective on borderland dynamics, regional geopolitics, strategic affairs, and international security. Through an interdisciplinary approach, it examines the causes, evolution, and resolution of conflicts while integrating insights from international relations, peace and conflict studies, diplomacy, international law, and global governance. The department fosters critical thinking, evidence-based research, and policy analysis through seminars, conferences, field studies, and collaborations with national and international institutions. Committed to academic excellence and global engagement, it prepares students to become skilled researchers, policymakers, diplomats, peace practitioners, and strategic analysts capable of addressing complex international challenges and contributing to conflict resolution, sustainable peace, and international cooperation.
