A Two Day training Program on RNA extraction based on the curriculum, Department of Forensic Science (25/03/2023)

The Department of Zoology and Department of Forensic Science, University of Ladakh recently organised a two day training program (24 to 25 March 2023) and hands on experience on RNA extraction with 10(ten) students and two staffs (Dr. Mohammed Husain and Dr. Stanzin Angmo) from each department. The program was held at the Covid lab, Chuchoat and was aimed at providing hands on training to the participation (students). The training program was attended by 20 students and the program was designed to provide practical knowledge on the methods and techniques used for RNA Extraction from nasopharyngeal swabs and human blood based on their syllabus. The participants were given detailed demonstration of the steps by steps process of RNA extraction from both samples, followed by hands on practice under the guidance of Dr. Stanzin Angmo and Mr. Mohd Hasnain (Nodal officer, State Microbiologist). The program also included discussions on the protocol following procedure, challenges and best practices associated with RNA extraction. Students from both departments actively participated in extraction of RNA following protocol and isolated RNA with multiple challenges.
