UNIVERSITY OF LADAKH Leh campus, Taru Department of Physical Education and Education (B.Ed) Date: 12/08/2023 Report Five Days Educational Tour of B.P.Ed. and B.Ed. Students To Changtang Region. From 02/08/2023 to 06/08/2023, a group of B.P.Ed and B.Ed. 3rd semester students of Leh Campus, University of Ladakh embarked on a 5-days educational tour to Changthang region of eastern Ladakh. By crossing the mighty Changla pass the students had visited the Tangtse village, Pangong Lake, Mann Merak village, Rizang la, Tsaga village, Chushul, Hanle Village, Indian Astronomical Observatory station at Hanle, Hanle monastery, Puga hot spring and visited Puga Residential School on the final day. The purpose of the tour was to provide students with practical learning experiences, exposure to different cultures, and understanding of educational institutions located in the remote areas. It provided highly enriching experience for the students with practical insights into different cultures, educational challenges in remote areas, and the importance of environmental conservation. During the tour, the students got opportunity to witness the unique lifestyle and cultural practices of the Changtang region's and its inhabitants. They interacted with Nomads and Semi Nomads and learned about their traditions, and observed their sustainable practices for survival in the harsh environment. Furthermore, the students gained insights into the challenges faced by educational institutions located in remote areas. The visit to Puga Residential School allowed them to understand the efforts made by the school authorities to provide quality education and support to the students of disadvantaged backgrounds. The discussion session of students with the Principal and the staffs of Puga Residential school was also Conducted. The tour also highlighted the importance of preserving the ecological balance of the region. The students learned about the fragile ecosystem of Changtang and need for sustainable practices to mitigate the impact of human activities on the environment.
