Press Release Interactive session of students with the Professor from University of Delhi and IIT Bombay Date: 18-08-2023 Timing of the session: 10:00 am to 12:30 pm Venue: Department of Mathematics, University of Ladakh, Leh campus. Department of Mathematics, University of Ladakh organized an Interactive session for faculties and students of the Department of Mathematics, University of Ladakh, with a Professor from University of Delhi and IIT Bombay on 18th August, 2023. The program started with the facilitation of guests with ceremonial Khataks by Mr. Tundup Namgyal, Coordinator, Department of Mathematics. It was followed by brief introductions of the distinguished guests, viz. Prof. Tarun Kumar Das, Former Registrar, University of Delhi and Prof. Shivaji Ganesh, Department of Mathematics, IIT Bombay by the moderator Mr. Tsering Namgyail student of 3rd semester. The 1st session was conducted by Prof. Tarun Kumar Das. Professor Das had talked about the importance and various applications of Mathematics in the real world. He discussed the benefits of diverse academic backgrounds and the potential for interdisciplinary studies. Professor Das shared success stories of collaborations between students and faculty members from different departments, resulting in innovative solutions to complex problems. The talk was followed by a Q/A session where Professor Das engaged in a fruitful dialogue with the students, addressing their queries related to career opportunities and research prospects. He encouraged students to actively participate in cross-institutional events and leverage the expertise of different collaborated institutes. The 2nd session was then conducted by Prof. Shivaji Ganesh. He touched upon the role of universities in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among the students. Professor shared insights into how their institution is supporting start-ups, including ideas and promoting innovation driven initiatives. The talk was followed by a Q/A session where students and faculties asked many questions. At last, Mr. Namgyail gave a formal vote of thanks.
