Press Release Date: 25.08.2023 A practical training programme for non-teaching staff on “Hospitality Etiquettes” On August 25, 2023, the Department of Travel and Tourism Management organized a practical training program on ‘Hospitality Etiquettes’ for non-teaching staff. The event was conducted by Dr. Lomte Daulatrao M, a distinguished faculty member from the Indian Culinary Institute, Tirupati. The programme commenced with a warm welcome extended to the resource person by Dr. Sonam Angmo who presented traditional khataks and mementos as tokens of appreciation to the esteemed speaker. The trainer, Dr. Lomte Daulatrao M delivered two insightful presentations during the training session. His talks covered key aspects of 'food handler's hygiene' wherein he highlighted the importance of hand hygiene, personal hygiene, need to take care of injuries while handling food etc. In the second session of the training programme, the trainer emphasized upon 'restaurant setup' in which he discussed cutlery and its arrangement and usage and guidelines for setting tables with appropriate crockery. Following the presentations, participants and key speakers convened at the admin block and Dr. Lomte Daulatrao M had the privilege of meeting the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. S.K.Mehta, of the University of Ladakh. This interaction fostered academic exchange and collaboration. Lastly, Dr. Lomte conducted a hands-on practical training session within the university's dining hall. Participants were given the opportunity to apply the principles of hospitality etiquettes discussed earlier. This practical experience aimed to solidify their understanding and proficiency in implementing these etiquettes effectively. The practical training program on Hospitality Etiquette organized by the Department of Travel and Tourism Management marked a significant step toward enhancing the skills and capabilities of the non-teaching staff.
