One-Day cleanliness drive organized by the NSS unit of Kargil Campus

Press Release Under the guidance of worthy Rector Madam Ms. Kaneez Fatima, Kargil campus, University of Ladakh. One-Day cleanliness drive organized by the NSS unit of Kargil Campus in collaboration with the students of the Department of Environmental Science, Kargil Campus University of Ladakh today on 23rd September, 2023. The cleanliness drive was conducted both inside and outside the Kargil Campus, indicating a comprehensive effort to improve the cleanliness and hygiene of the campus and its surroundings. Over 50 students from both the NSS unit and the Department of Environmental Science of Kargil Campus UoL actively participated in the cleanliness drive. This substantial turnout demonstrates the enthusiasm and commitment of the student community toward the cause. An important aspect of the drive was the preparation of a biodegradable waste dumping pit. This pit, with dimensions of Length = 7 ft., Width = 3 ft., and Depth = 5 ft., was created by the combined efforts of students and MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff) workers. The purpose of this pit was for the composting of biodegradable waste, aligning with the Green Campus Initiative. Students actively participated in segregation of the waste. Specifically, plastic bottles were segregated for reuse. This reflects a responsible approach toward waste management, as recycling and reusing materials are crucial steps in reducing environmental impact. The cleanliness drive concluded on a positive note, with refreshments provided to all the students who participated. This not only rewarded the students for their hard work but also served as a moment of camaraderie and celebration, fostering a sense of community and teamwork among the participants. Overall, this initiative showcases the dedication of the NSS unit and the Department of Environmental Science at Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh, toward promoting cleanliness, waste management, and environmental sustainability. It also highlights the importance of active student involvement in such initiatives to create a more environmentally conscious and responsible campus community.
