6-Day Study Tour in Ladakh by the Department of Environmental Science, Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh* From September 26th to October 1st, 2023, the Department of Environmental Science at Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh, embarked on a 6-day study tour in Ladakh. Here's a brief overview of the tour: *Day 1:* Departure to Leh, where we arrived at 5:00 PM. *Day 2:* Visited Tsokar Wetland, studying biodiversity and spotting endangered species. Also, explored Chumathang hot spring and Puga Valley Geothermal Site. *Day 3:* Toured the Sewage Treatment Plant in Agling Leh and the Rock & Mineral Museum in Shey. *Day 4:* Explored the National Institute of Sowa Rigpa (NISR) and the Defense Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), focusing on high-altitude medicinal plants and research. *Day 5:* Visited the Wildlife Rescue Center in Leh and LEGeG to learn about wildlife rescue, conservation projects, and ecology preservation. *Day 6:* Returned to Kargil, stopping at Tagmachik Village and organic farming villages. Also, witnessed solar-based apricot drying in Achinathang Village, reaching Kargil at 8:00 PM. This study tour provided students with valuable hands-on experience in Ladakh's environmental challenges, conservation efforts, and sustainable practices, enhancing their understanding of environmental science in a practical context.
