Press Report Feminsit Perspective on Gender Disparity and the Significance of Gender Sensitivity In a momentous collaboration under the esteemed banner of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav The Depertment of Political Science, Kargil Campus University of Ladakh conducted a lecture series on Feminsit Perspective on Gender Disparity and the Significance of Gender Sensitivity on 21 October, 2023 aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of the feminism as a socio-political movement that advocates for the equal rights and opportunities of all genders, challenging traditional gender roles and stereotypes that have historically marginalized women and continues to affect women. The event owed its success to the unwavering support and guidance of its honourable patrons: Ms. Kaneez Fatima, the revered Rector of Kargil Campus, and the venerable Vice-Chancellor, S. K. Mehta, of the University of Ladakh. Their patronage ensured the seamless execution of the program, setting the stage for a memorable and insightful gathering. The speaker highlighted the social and sexual construction of gender and division of labour as well as harmful stereotypes that perpetuate gender disparities, such as the notion that certain roles or behaviors are inherently male or female. She also discussed wave of feminsim, and acknowledged that feminsit thinkers consistently encouraging the empowerment of women enabling them to make choices about their bodies, lives, and careers, free from societal constraints and oppression. While speaking on the significance of Gender Sensitivity she refers it plays a crucial role in fostering a more inclusive, equitable, and just society. The significance of gender sensitivity according to her can can be understood through fostering inclusivity and respect for the diversity of gender identities. It ensures that no one feels excluded, discriminated against, or marginalized due to their gender. She also emphsised that gender-sensitive approaches are essential in addressing and preventing gender-based violence, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, and discrimination and addressing the emotional and psychological well-being of individuals, regardless of their gender, is crucial for better mental health outcomes. In conclusion, She encourages individuals, communities, and institutions to embrace these principles and work collectively to dismantle gender disparities and build a world where all genders can thrive without bias or discrimination.
