FRENCH MULTI-DISCIPLINARY CELEBRATES 'LA JOURNEE DE LA FRANCOPHONIE' AT THE CENTRE FOR LANGUAGES, UNIVERSITY OF LADAKH Press-Report The 24 students from various departments of the French Multi-Disciplinary 2nd Semester at the Centre for Languages, University of Ladakh, celebrated "La Journee de la Francophonie" on 19th March 2023 with a symbolic event aimed at fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the French language and culture. The event began with an introductory session in the classroom on the concepts of "Francophone," "Francophonie," and "francophonie," which paved the way for a thoughtful question-and-answer session and a discussion on various aspects of France and its cultural heritage. The celebratory ambience was further enhanced by a delightful aperitif at the University Canteen and a ceremonial cake-cutting, accompanied by a performance of the iconic French song "Les Champs Elysees" by Joe Dassin, which added a musical dimension to the proceedings. Dr. Subrat Sharma, the Dean of Science, honored the event with his presence and encouraged students to embrace language learning as a means of broadening their horizons. The celebration concluded with a group photo, capturing the spirit of unity and cultural appreciation.
