Press Note/Release Date of Event: 24-04-24. Field Visit to: Nimmu House, Nimmu, Leh, Ladakh. Heritage House Conservation and Sustainable Tourism Development Nimmu House is a heritage property of Nangso Family. Once upon a time it was a key place for celebration of events for the villagers of Nimmu. The present establishment is a restoration of an old broken house into an organic eco resort. The property is being run by a couple, Mr. Vikram and Ms. Indrani. During the students’ visit to Nimmu House Ms. Indrani said, “It is painful to see that locals are breaking their old house to construct one. The construction of new buildings ARE spoiling the aesthetic beauty of Ladakh. We are supposed to be more careful and emotionally intelligent to conserver the old houses, while trying to develop Ladakh as sustainable tourism destination.” Ms. Indrani, the owner of the property took the students on Nimmu House tour and explained every aspect of its conservation and design of the house. She added “All the rooms have unique space, design, and accommodation layout but all the rooms have same terrif. Our motto is to provide personalized services”. Mr. Vikram explained about the challenges in old house restoration and marketing of the product. Also, Ms. Arundhati, the hospitality manager Nimmu House said, “the continuum study of tourism market, housekeeping and ambience are essentials components to make your guest satisfied.” During this visit students got familiar with new tourism product development, eco resort, heritage conservation, housekeeping, village tourism, tradition house of Ladakh and its funnel role in development of Ladakh as sustainable tourism destination.
