The 2nd District Handball Championship, organized by the Ladakh Handball Association, took place from 10th to 13th September 2024 at the Open Stadium, Spituk, Leh. This prestigious event highlighted the dynamic handball culture of Leh, Ladakh. Representing the University of Ladakh, Leh Campus, the Handball teams was dispatched under the guidance of Dr. Jigmat Deachen, Dean of Student Welfare. The men's and women's teams, led by Coach Mr. Sonam Gyatso, accompanied by Dr. Waseem Raja Malik, were comprised of 12 players in each category. Despite the men's and women's teams not advancing beyond the group stages, they showcased commendable defensive strategies and swift counter-attacks. The men's team registered two remarkable wins, and the women's team displayed admirable resilience. Both teams earned praise for their tactical discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship, which made a lasting impact on the tournament. The participation of the University of Ladakh, Leh Campus Handball teams in this district championship marked a significant step forward for the University’s sporting programs. Their performances are expected to further motivate and inspire the University's sporting community in future competitions.
