Kargil-23.09.2024: The Department of Political Science at the Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh, organized an enriching and interactive session titled "Happiness Strategy for Good Relationships, Health, and Success" on September 23, 2024. The event featured the highly esteemed Dr. Rajesh K. Pillania, also known as the "Happiness Professor," who is a prominent academic and Asia Fellow at Harvard University (2009-2011). The session was designed to explore the scientific and practical dimensions of happiness, focusing on how it can be nurtured to foster healthy relationships, improved health, and greater success in life. The event began with a traditional Ladakhi welcome, as Dr. Mohd Taqi, Coordinator of the Department of Political Science, honored Dr. Pillania with a khatak, a ceremonial scarf symbolizing the warmth and hospitality of Ladakh. In his formal welcome address, Dr. Taqi extended greetings on behalf of the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. S. K. Mehta, In-Charge Administration Dr. Mehboob Ali, all faculty members, and students. Dr. Taqi also emphasized the remarkable progress the University of Ladakh has made since its inception in 2019 under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Mehta, underscoring how it was a privilege for the university to host a scholar of Dr. Pillania's caliber. In his address, Prof. Rajesh K. Pillania emphasized the critical role happiness plays in shaping the quality of human life. He delved into various dimensions of happiness, explaining how it can be cultivated through strategic practices in daily life. With his rich academic background and decades of research, Prof. Pillania explained how happiness influences relationships, health, and professional success. He engaged the audience by focusing on three fundamental questions: 1. Why do we need happiness? 2. What is happiness? 3. How can we achieve happiness? A key feature of the session was a hands-on activity where Prof. Pillania distributed happiness questionnaires to the participants, designed to evaluate their perceptions and understanding of happiness. This exercise provided students and faculty with valuable insights into their own happiness levels and practical tools to enhance them. The event was research-driven, focusing on integrating happiness into daily routines through effective management of time, energy, and attention.
