Shri Pramod Kumar Jain, IAS (Retired), Chairman of the New Districts Committee visited the University of Ladakh, Leh Campus, on October 11, 2024, for an interactive session with the faculty members and students to assess various aspects related to the creation of five new districts in Ladakh. Prof. S.K. Mehta, the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Ladakh, the chair of the interactive session warmly welcomed Shri Pramod Kumar Jain. The session lasted for over two hours and saw discussions and deliberations over important themes such as the location of district headquarters, boundary demarcation, infrastructure related to skill development and capacity building, environmental concerns etc. Faculty members and students, hailing from different regions of Ladakh, actively shared their concerns and suggestions with Shri Jain who assured further considerations on the matters raised. Both faculty and students expressed their appreciation for the creation of these new districts, recognizing the potential benefits for regional development. They also commended the committee's bottom-up approach, which involves gathering feedback from local communities. Following the discussions, Shri Pramod Kumar Jain toured the university's state-of-the-art instrumentation labs and appreciated the University of Ladakh for its efforts in establishing cutting-edge facilities for research and education
