About

I feel privileged to write this message as I remained incharge with drawing and disbursing officer right from the inception of the college in 2013. I have witnessed the growth of this college from two rooms of Higher Secondary School Padum and later in Middle School Padum till 2019. The college was about to accelerate the pace of development in college when shifted to our own campus in October 2019 but when just begun in March 2020 pandemic and lockdown paused the development process. However, taking advantage of pandemic college administration focused on infrastructure development of the college. Today the college is the fastest growing college in UT Ladakh as after formation of UT Ladakh the government is very liberal in funding as compared to the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir State. The college has upgraded through RUSA 1.0 on infrastructural grants of 1.97 crore. Separate Lavotory for boys and girls, canteen/cafteria, more than 8000 books with library furniture and equipment, highly equipped computer labor tory, gymnasium, sports equipment all made possible beside the Academic Block and Administrative Block under Central Sponsored Scheme. This college will be the first to install two snooker tables for the students and faculties. Due to liberal funding from UT administration a high tech and fully equipped science laboratory is installed right in the first year of starting science stream by Higher Education Department UT Ladakh. The Enrollment of students reached almost 100 in 2021-22 as compared to mere 36 in the year 2013.

The year 2021-22 remain a historical year for the college as UT Administration sanctioned seven important projects of the college namely passive solar 50 bedded hostel separate for girls and boys, passive solar Science Laboratory Block, passive solar Indoor Stadium Cum Multipurpose Hall, Smart Classrooms, passive solar Gazetted & Non Gazetted Staff Quarters. These infrastructures will be design conducive to the harsh winter of Zanskar Padum. The college has signed MoUs with Gargi College New Delhi under Vidya Vistar Scheme and collaboration with NIELIT Ladakh, Krishi Vigvan Kendra are on card for vocational courses in future.

I appreciate and thank the support of UT Ladakh Administration, Higher Education Jammu & Kashmir, Higher Education UT Ladakh, University of Ladakh, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil, Political leadership of Zanskar, All teaching and non teaching staff since 2019 and students of the college who extended their support in making this college as a Model College. We assure to develop this institution as an attractive space for the overall growth of a student and many facilities will be extended to the people of Zanskar.
