Press Note/Release Date of Event: 01-10-2023 to 07-10-2023 Venue of Event: Leh Campus, Leh, Ladakh University of Ladakh Shaping new dimension of quality education. Quality education is a buzzing word in current scenario especially in post covid era. Academic institutions as well as governments across the globe are seeking to attain higher standards of quality education. The university of Ladakh under the patronage of Prof. S. K. Mehta, Vice Chancellor University of Ladakh (UoL) has accepted the challenge to deliver quality education to the enthusiastic students of Ladakh. In this regard, Prof. Mehta has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) on Student Exchange, Faculty Exchange and Research. The students from the university of Ladakh visited Ambedkar University between January 15, 2023 to January 21, 2023. In this extension, 15 students and 2 faculty members from School of Vocational Studies (SVS), Ambedkar University Delhi reached Leh Campus of UoL on 1st October 2023. The department of Travel and Tourism Management is hosting this Student Exchange Program under the of guidance of university administration. The program will be completed on October 7th October and next day students will leave to parent institute. This program involved Day-0: Accommodation and physical test, Day-1: Acclimatization walk & Cultural familiarization tour to Taru village. Through this walk students came to know about village life in Ladakh and the importance of acclimatization. Day-2: It was a local tour to Chamba, Sangam, Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara and Hemis Monastery. Hemis village which recently got Best Tourism Village Award (Silver) from Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Day-3 was a historical day of this program. It was a tour to Khardungla; where students took pledge on “Travel for Life’’ The Kardung La connects the second highest motorable road in the world. Day-4: was dedicated to understand the importance of harmony between human and wildlife, and students were taken out for birdwatching to Shindhu Ghaat and Shey. Followed by visit to Rock and Stones Museum at Shey to understand the richness of vast barren land of Ladakh which is not barren as it inhibits a vast and unexplored area of treasure. The students were also taken to Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre to understand the concept of inner peace. Day-5: After understanding the ground realities of Ladakh through field visit it was a day dedicated to “Experts Talk on Tourism” in context of Ladakh. The speakers talk about Sustainable Ladakh, Marketing of Ladakh, Accommodation industry of Ladakh, Wildlife and Tourism in Ladakh, Modern Ladakh and Tourism, Carrying Capacity and Ladakh, and Tourism and UNIVERSITY OF LADAKH Socioeconomic change in Ladakh. Day-6: it was a day dedicated to students’ presentation on four dimensions e.g., Specific Learnings, Cultural Experience, Geographical understanding and Tourism industry followed by heritage walk guided by Mr. Tashi Murup from LAMO. The presentation prize winner was Mr. Abhishek and best image (on theme Tourism and Green investment) prize winner was Ms Chavvi. The students expressed this Student Exchange Program as contentment and a journey of new learnings.
