Inaugural Training Session of Entrepreneurial Training Programme for Scheduled Tribe Community of Union Territory of Ladakh to Produce Solar Lanterns for Lighting Applications for the ITI Students, Leh. The University of Ladakh is pleased to announce the launch of the third batch of the 14-day inaugural training session for the Entrepreneurial Training Programme. This initiative, sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), is designed to empower the Scheduled Tribe community of the Union Territory of Ladakh. This unique initiative focuses on equipping the beneficiaries with the necessary skills to produce solar lanterns for lighting applications, providing a sustainable solution to energy challenges while fostering entrepreneurial development in the region. The training session, which began today, is part of an ongoing effort to enhance the socio-economic conditions of the Scheduled Tribe community by encouraging self-reliance through the adoption of green technologies. The initiative will not only create opportunities for employment but also promote the use of renewable energy, reducing the region’s dependence on non-renewable sources of power. The ITI Leh has sent 36 students for the 14-day hands-on training. Some of the Key Features of the Programme are, Training on Solar Lantern Production, Entrepreneurial Development and Sustainable Impact In his inaugural address, Dr. Mohd Rafee, the Principal Investigator of the project highlighted the importance of such initiatives in bridging the energy gap in remote regions like Ladakh. He emphasized the role of renewable energy in driving both economic and environmental sustainability. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) along with the University of Ladakh, is committed to further expanding such training programmes to enable the region’s communities to harness their potential and build a sustainable future.
