16th November 2022. Department of Commerce and Department of Travel and Tourism, University of Ladakh successfully concluded 4-day study tour to Changthang region. The tour commenced with official flagging-off by Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Deskyong Namgyal from the administrative office on 12th November 2022. While addressing the students Prof. Deskyong advised students to gain indigenous knowledge from the natives and learn about their way of living. It is pertinent to mention here that the primary objective of the tour is to familiarize the students of the two departments with prospects of business avenues associated with pashmina, homestays, carpet weaving and tourism allied industry. Students whose minor project and dissertation are centered around the pashmina, homestays, carpet weaving and tourism related activities obtained the primary data from the respondents during the tour. The group visited the places like, Changla, Durbuk, Tangtse, Maan, Spangmik, Pangong Lake, Chusul, Rezang La memorial, Tsaga, Hanle Astrophysics Observatory, Hot spring point Chumathang and interacted with the natives.
