Historical tour was organized by the department of history

A historical tour was organised by the department of history from 12th November 2022 to the Kargil District of the Union Territory of Ladakh. This trip was organized under the mentorship of Dr Rinchen Dolma and Dr Nazia Jabeen (AP. Department of History). The tour was flagged off by the Prof. Ashok Kumar Sharma. Registrar, University of Ladakh, at around 10:30 am from Leh, Melong Thang, through the NH1 route and passed through some of the major historical places of Ladakh, such as Basgo, Khaltse, Lamayuru, Henasku and Bodh Kharbu. Our first site of officially visit was Mulbekh Chamba (Maitreya) which provides one of the important evidence of the early diffusion of Buddhism in Ladakh. During vist to historical sites of Hunderman and Drass, both of which were directly affected by the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971 and 1999. The students also visited the Munshi Aziz Bhatt Museum, which is located at Lankore, Kargil, village of Styankung, Government Middle School of Karith, Kargil and cave monastery of Shargol. it was a great experience for all the students, and it could not have been better than this. The objective with which this tour was organized has been achieved.
