Press Release 18th August: Today, Shri. Amit Sharma, IAS, Secretary, Union Territory of Ladakh visited the Leh campus of the University of Ladakh for an interactive session with the faculty and students. Prof. S.K. Mehta, Vice-Chancellor of the University, welcomed the officer by offering khatags. It is pertinent to mention here this was the first visit of Shri. Amit Sharma to the University of Ladakh after assuming charge as Secretary in the Union Territory of Ladakh. While interacting with the faculty and students, he expressed his intention to help the university on a large scale and also asked faculty members to develop new projects. He assured that the administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh led by Hon’ble LG would leave no stone unturned to develop Ladakh. He also announced that soon Science and Technology Council will be estalished in Ladakh. He spelled several intitaives being taken by UT Ladakh where involvement of University of Ladakh would be paramount. He also urged students and faculty to come up with novel and innovative ideas for finding solutions to the prevailing problems of Ladakh. Later, he appreciated the academic and administrative works being carried out under the able guidance of Prof. S.K. Mehta, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh. Sh. Amit Sharma (IAS), Secretary of Science and Technology Dept. in UT Ladakh also interacted with students of the 3-day Yusuf Hamied chemistry residential camp organised by University of Ladakh in collaboration with Royal Society of Chemistry during his Visit to University of Ladakh Leh Campus. He emphasized the students' pivotal role as the future of Ladakh, encouraging them to dedicate themselves to its development and that of India. In his interaction, he shed light on India's Chandrayaan-3 mission. He motivated the students to strive diligently and become experts who can contribute not only locally, but also on a global scale. He also acknowledged Prof. S.K Mehta, Vice Chancellor University of Ladakh for his contributions and efforts for upliftment and development of quality education among the students of Ladakh.
