Press Release Subject: Fieldwork of MSc Geology students with Hydrogeologists of NIT Raipur and Ladakh Nutrition Project (LNP) team at Nang village, Leh. Under the motivation and support of Prof. S. K. Mehta, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Department of Geology, Leh Campus participated in one-day fieldwork on “Geohydrological study in Leh Ladakh, Unlocking Water Solutions” on 10th October 2023. The fieldwork was organized by the Ladakh Nutrition Project (LNP), Leh with technical support from NIT Raipur (Chattisgarh). Dr. D C Jhariya (Associate Professor, HOD, Applied Geology), Dr. Chandan Kumar Singh (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Civil Engineering), Mr. Tanvir (Research Scholar), Mr. Mayank (Project JRF) accompanied the students with the faculty members of Department of Geology, UoL as experts in the field. In this fieldwork, application of different geophysical methods was carried out to understand the subsurface geology of the area in order to study the occurrence of groundwater, particularly in the water scarcity areas around Leh. Students have been demonstrated the multi-electrode resistivity method to identify the potential groundwater zone around Nang village. LNP team Mr. Lotus Gyaltsan and Mr. Tsering Angchuk have provided the logistics required for the field work. The faculty of the Department of Geology, UoL, Dr. Bhupendra Yadav, Dr. Ibrahim Yousuf, and Dr. Stanzin Namga thanked all the officials on behalf of the University of Ladakh for providing the opportunity to the students of Geology Department for participating in this field work and also desire to work in collaboration with both the institutes on Geo-hydrological aspects of Leh-Ladakh. ---x---
