Press Release DIHAR Leh in Collaboration with UoL-TEC Celebrated National Technology Day at DIHAR Leh 11th May 2024: The Defence Institute of High-Altitude Research Centre, Leh in collaboration with the Technology Enabling Centre, University of Ladakh, today celebrated “National Technology Day” at DIHAR Leh. On the occasion, Prof. S K Mehta, Vice-Chancellor, of the University of Ladakh was the chief guest. Students and faculty members from the University of Ladakh and scientists of DIHAR attended the program. The program began with a formal welcome and felicitation of the chief guest with traditional Khatags. While shedding light on the importance of Technology Day, Dr. Tsering Stobdan, Scientist ‘F’ DIHAR highlighted the roles played by DIHAR (formerly FRL) in improving the lives of people and defense personnel living in the region of Ladakh. Subsequently, Dr. Anand Kumar Katiya, Scientist ‘E’ DIHAR presented a detailed presentation on the “Greenhouse Technology for High Altitude Ladakh Region”. He was also awarded the certificate of achievement for his immense contribution to the high-altitude agriculture practice and greenhouse technology. Later, Dr. Chourasia, Director, DIHAR in his speech, appraised the audience about the technological intervention DIHAR has done so far for the betterment of the people living or serving in Ladakh. While addressing the gathering, the chief guest, Prof. S K Mehta, highlighted the various academic and research achievements of the University of Ladakh in the technology sphere. He urged the audience to think out of the box for innovating new technologies for the betterment of society. It is worthwhile to mention here that the Technology Enabling Centre at the University of Ladakh was sanctioned by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, for creating a conducive environment for technological intervention to solve the prevalent problems. The program culminated with a formal vote of thanks by Mr. Tsewang Tamchos, Technical Officer, DIHAR Leh.
