𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬, 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐤𝐡.

The Department of Physical Education and Sports at the Leh Campus of the University of Ladakh organized the Interdepartmental Futsal Championship 2024 on the 5th and 6th of August 2024. Over these two days, seven matches were played among the participating teams. The championship saw enthusiastic participation from ten teams representing various departments, including TTM, Economics, Education, Physical Education, Zoology, Forensic Science, and the staff team. Five teams competed in the men’s category and five in the women’s category. The event showcased the vibrant sports culture within the campus, with students coming together to compete and display their athletic prowess. The matches were intensely competitive, with teams demonstrating exceptional skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The grand finale was a significant highlight, graced by the presence of Prof. S.K. Mehta, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ladakh. Dr. Jigmat Dachen, Dean of Student Welfare, coordinators, faculty from various departments, and a large number of students were present for the occasion. The final match in the women’s category was played between the Economics Department team and the Education Department team. The Education Department team won the Winner's Trophy with a score of 1-0 in a penalty shootout, while the Economics Department team lifted the Runner-Up Trophy. In the men’s category, the final match was played between the TTM Department team and the Physical Education Department team. The Physical Education Department team won the Winner's Trophy with a score of 9-3, and the TTM Department team lifted the Runner-Up Trophy. The award for the best player of the tournament in the women’s category was given to Ms. Skarma Diesal of the Economics Department, while Mr. Jigmat Tsetan of the Physical Education Department was recognized as the best player in the men’s section. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.K. Mehta congratulated the winning teams on their hard-earned victories. In his address, he emphasized the importance of sports alongside academics and assured his commitment to uplifting the sporting culture on campus. Finally, medals and trophies were distributed to the winners and runners-up by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. S.K. Mehta. The tournament was successfully coordinated and supervised by Dr. Jigmat Dachen, Dean of Student Welfare, along with the faculty and students of the Physical Education Department.
