Kargil, September 07, 2024 – The Department of Geography and the Department of Sociology, Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh, successfully concluded the ICSSR-Sponsored 10-Day Research Methodology Course (RMC) for Research Scholars and Faculty in Social Sciences. The workshop, which ran from 29th August to 7th September 2024, centered on the theme "Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods in Social Sciences" and provided invaluable insights to participants from across India. The Valedictory Function, held on 7th September, was graced by esteemed dignitaries including Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Mehta, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, as the Chief Guest, Prof. Vishal Sood, Secretary to the Vice Chancellor, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, as Guest of Honor, and Dr. Saleha Jamal and Dr. Amrita Bajaj, distinguished academicians from Aligarh Muslim University and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi, respectively. Among other dignitaries’ present were Dr. Mehboob Ali, Incharge Administration at Kargil Campus, UOL, Dr. Jaffar Ali Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, UOL, and Dr. Mohd Taqi, the Course Director of the workshop. The valedictory function begins with a traditional khatak ceremony, a revered cultural gesture symbolizing respect and hospitality, during which Dr. Mohd Taqi ceremoniously presented khataks to the esteemed guests. The ceremony commenced with a formal welcome address delivered by Dr. Mehboob Ali, Incharge Administration, University of Ladakh. He extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, honourable Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Guest of Honour, Special Guests, and participants from various universities across India. In his address, Dr. Mehboob emphasized that such workshops and programs are vital for the academic growth of universities. He noted that these initiatives validate research methodologies, including the practice of data collection, interpretation, and analysis. Dr. Mehboob expressed particular gratitude to the ICSSR for sponsoring this ten-day research methodology workshop. He expressed his appreciation for the collaborative spirit and future research contributions. He concluded by thanking everyone for their hard work and significant contributions that made the workshop successful.
