University of Ladakh Hosts Special Lecture on "Governance and Public Policy"

The Department of Political Science at the University of Ladakh organized a special lecture on "Governance and Public Policy" today at the Leh campus. The lecture was delivered by Shri Pramod Kumar Jain, IAS (Retd.), Chairman of the New District Committee, visiting professor, UoL. Prof. S. K. Mehta, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, the University of Ladakh chaired the session. In his welcome address, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, expressed his gratitude to Shri Pramod Kumar Jain for accepting the invitation to speak on an important topic. The guest was warmly welcomed with traditional khatags, symbolizing Ladakhi hospitality. The lecture provided valuable insights into the role of governance and policy-making in promoting accountability, efficiency, and equity. Shri Pramod Kumar Jain engaged the audience with his vast knowledge, addressing topics such as governance, good governance, public policy, and the foundational principles of governance frameworks. Faculty members and students from across the university attended the session with great enthusiasm. The lecture was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session that offered participants an opportunity to engage directly with the speaker further enhancing their understanding of governance and public policy challenges and solutions. This initiative by the Department of Political Science aims to foster awareness and build capacity in the fields of governance and policy-making, reinforcing the university’s commitment to academic and societal advancement. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Tanzen Nakdon, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science. Dr. Nakdon expressed heartfelt appreciation to Shri Pramod Kumar Jain, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, and all participants for contributing to the event's success.
