The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Prof. S. K. Mehta, inaugurated the newly constructed Pre-Fabricated Library at Leh Campus, Taruthang, on 20th January, 2025. The state-of-the-art library, built at a cost of ₹80 lakhs, features dedicated spaces for bookshelves, a reading area, and a computer zone for accessing online resources. With a collection of approximately 7,000 reference and textbooks by Indian and foreign authors, it stands as one of the richest reading resources in Ladakh. Dr. Jigmat Dachen, Incharge Administration, Leh Campus, welcomed the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and expressed gratitude for his unwavering support in enhancing campus facilities. The program was graced by several dignitaries, including Dr. Sonam Joldan, Dean Academic Affairs; Dr. Jigmet Yangchan, Chief Scientist and Incharge, MRI; Dr. Stanzin Shaky, Deputy Controller, Examination; Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, Special Secretary to the Vice Chancellor; Mr. Tsering Dorjey, Administrative Consultant; and other officials. During the program, Prof. S. K. Mehta also inaugurated the Pre-Fabricated Building of the Technology Enabling Centre (TEC), sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The TEC aims to foster a robust technology development ecosystem by promoting collaboration among researchers, national laboratories, and industries. Its focus lies in creating a supportive environment for innovation, streamlining processes, and providing comprehensive support to the academic community. Additionally, the Vice Chancellor inaugurated the Pre-fabricated building Atal Community Innovation Centre (ACIC). ACIC is a part of the Atal Innovation Mission by NITI Aayog under the "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" & "Make in India" movement of the Government of India to support youth's creativity & problem-solving ability.
